  Going to the dentist can be a scary experience for children. The buzzing toothbrush, flossing between tight teeth and ... extractions! Dr. Matt Sones alleviates any fear that his pediatric patients might have. He gets down on their level from the minute that he introduces himself with jokes and kid-friendly explanations that make visiting a dentist less intimidating. My three daughters, ages 10, 8 and 6 love Dr. Matt so much that we left an office we had been at for 8 years and followed him to his new practice. Dr. Matt lets my girls feel like they are the ones making the choices about their dental health. They are excited to show off their well brushed teeth - especially if one is wiggling! From the big choice of which toothpaste to use during their cleanings to rinsing and spitting when they feel ready to getting their teeth painted with fluoride, the entire visit with Dr. Matt is a positive and encouraging one. Not only does he know how to deal with children, he's also good friends with the Tooth Fairy!

  My 6 year old daughter had dental work at Ocean Pediatric Dental with Dr. Velazquez. We were very apprehensive about having the work done because we didn't want her to develop a fear of going to the dentist. Dr. Velazquez listened to us, addressed our fears, and patiently answered every question we had. She went over all the details and tailored a plan around my daughter. Dr. Velazquez partnered with the anesthesiologist, Dr. Mendia, to have her sedated. The end result turned out beautifully and my daughter has no recollection of the procedure. She was able to have her dental issued corrected and now has a healthy smile and best of all she does not fear the dentist. Also, we have peace of mind knowing that she is in good hands if ever she should need dental work with sedation again in the future. My husband and I highly recommend Dr. Velazquez and the wonderful staff at Ocean Pediatric Dental to any parent whose child is in need of dental work.
